Kia ora. Halo. Kumusta. Hello from all in the Junior Room and welcome to our wikipage.

As starting school is a big adventure for both child and family, at Gorge Road School we are committed to working in partnership with you, as together we achieve more. We have an open door policy as far as possible in our busy little school and are usually available for a quick chat before and after school.

Parent interviews are at the end of term 1, and formal written reports go home terms 2 & 4 and discuss your child’s progress and goals. To receive a National Standards report your child will have needed to have completed 6 months of schooling so they may not receive one with their school report if they haven’t been at school long enough.

Our aim in the Junior Room is to make learning fun, interactive and appropriate to your child’s needs. We provide a broad balanced curriculum which takes advantage of our local environment with learning experiences both in and out of the classroom – either on the sports field, in the school garden or down at Waituna Lagoon.

In the Junior Room we demonstrate the Gorge Road School 4 R’s – Responsibility, Respect, Resilence, Resourcefulness by …
  • taking responsibility for the wellbeing of ourselves and others
  • showing respect for our classroom environment and those in it
  • demonstrating a resilient attitude to new tasks and experiences
  • being able to problem solve and think outside the box we are able to show resourcefulness
